SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse freshman point guard Tyler Ennis is entering the NBA draft. Ennis, from Brampton, Ont., made the announcement Thursday in an email from the university. "Id like to thank coach (Jim) Boeheim, the coaching staff, my teammates and the amazing fans of Syracuse for the opportunity to play at a great university like Syracuse," Ennis said in the statement released by the school. "I feel this experience has helped prepare me to fulfil my lifelong dream -- to play in the NBA." Ennis finished second on the Orange in scoring at 12.9 points per game and averaged 5.5 assists to go with 1.7 turnovers, one of the top assist-to-turnover marks in the nation. "He sat down with us and we talked about it," Enniss father, Tony McIntyre, said Thursday. "He feels like hes in a good place in the draft. There are not too many point guards and he feels that he can be valuable to a team in this years draft." McIntyre said the family spoke with Boeheim before announcing the decision. "He just said hed be there to help Tyler in anything he needs," McIntyre said. The six-foot-two, 180-pound Ennis displayed an uncanny calmness for a freshman in leading the Orange to a school-record 25 wins to start the season and a No. 1 ranking for three weeks. Enniss three-pointer at the buzzer beat Pittsburgh in mid-February. He took the teams last shot of the season, missing a three from the top of the key at the final horn in a 55-53 loss to Dayton in the third round of the NCAA tournament last Saturday night in Buffalo, N.Y. Syracuse finished 28-6. "He did a great job here," Boeheim told The Post-Standard of Syracuse. "Were very proud of him. Well move on." One of those who wasnt surprised was Mark Taylor, Enniss coach at St. Benedicts Prep in New Jersey. "Hes going to be a lottery pick. My gut would have been two (years at Syracuse)," Taylor told The Associated Press at midseason. "The numbers hes putting up, its going to be hard for him not to go. Hes going to be forecast to go so high in the draft, he might have to go just because its so much money." Ennis joins Carmelo Anthony and Donte Greene as the only Syracuse players to enter the NBA after their freshman season. Still, it wont be so easy to leave. "Its hard because he loves Syracuse," McIntyre said. "He loves playing there, he loves the fans, he loves his teammates, and he loves coach -- all the coaches. Thats the hard part, but, you know, when youre a little kid and you play basketball, you want to play in the NBA. "I think that part makes it somewhat easier because the reality of it is hes got the shot to do that this year." White Sox Jerseys 2019 . Panuphol, ranked just 451st in the world, was a stroke ahead of a group of four golfers in second -- Scott Jamieson, David Lipsky, Kim Byung-jun and local favourite Quincy Quek. The tournament, a co-sanctioned European and Asian tour event formerly called the Ballantines Championship, was moved from South Korea to Singapore just three weeks ago after it lost its title sponsor and the promoter failed to reach an agreement with a suitable golf venue. Defending champion Brett Rumford of Australia was in joint-64th place after a 70, level with Frances Alexander Levy, who won his maiden European Tour title Sunday at the China Open. The 21-year-old Panuphol earned his best European Tour result late last year when he finished tied for 18th at the Hong Kong Open. But hes missed his last three cuts on the Asian Tour. "I didnt see it coming but it did come," he said of his 63 on Thursday. "Im feeling good about my game right now. I wwas just trying to hit straight out there.dddddddddddd I managed to hole a lot of putts and a lot of them were unexpected." Jamieson, who won his first European Tour title last year at the Nelson Mandela Championship in South Africa, also had nine birdies in his round, including a difficult chip shot from the bunker on the par-3 No. 17, his eighth hole. He had one bogey on the par-4 16th. "Ive been hitting the ball well the last couple of weeks, so it was nice to get a round where it all came together," he said. "There was just the one mistake with the three-putt on 16, but it was pretty far away and pace putting is always difficult in Asia with the grain. Its not what someone from Scotland is used to." Panuphols countryman, Arnond Vongvanij, was in a share of the lead at 9 under until taking a double bogey on No. 8, his 17th hole, to fall back to a share of sixth place on 65. Spains Rafa Cabrera-Bello, who has three top-10 finishes this year, was another shot back in a group at 6 under. Laguna National hosted the Singapore Masters from 2002-07 and the Singapore Open from 2009-12. ' ' '
